When people choose a place to stay, photos do most of the talking. Textiles are the fastest way to make those photos (and the stay) feel warm, clean and inviting. Here are five simple, budget-friendly hacks you can implement this week.

Start with a calm, nature-inspired palette - then add one accent
Why it works: Soft greens, beiges, sands and warm whites read as clean and relaxing on camera. A single accent color adds energy without visual noise.
How to do it: Keep 70–80% of the textiles in soothing neutrals (duvet, curtains, towels). Add one accent through a throw and 1–2 cushions. Repeat the accent twice in the room for cohesion.
Layer the bed like a pro
Why it works: Layers look plush in photos and let guests fine-tune warmth.
How to do it (Queen/160 cm bed):
Fitted sheet + flat sheet (cotton percale 200–300 TC).
Lightweight duvet in a plain cover.
Textured quilt/bedspread folded to 1/3 of the bed.
A throw at the foot for color/texture.
Tip: Steam/iron the top layer and “hotel tuck” the sides for crisp edges.
Use the 2–2–1 pillow formula
Why it works: Balanced symmetry = instant polish.
How to do it:
2 Euro pillows (65×65) against the headboard,
2 standard sleeping pillows,
1 smaller accent cushion (30×50 or 45×45) in your accent color/print.
Keep prints small-scale and nature-inspired so they mix easily.
Pair sheers with blackout curtains
Why it works: Guests sleep better (hello, 5-star reviews) and daytime photos look soft and airy.
How to do it: Hang floor-length blackout curtains plus sheer panels on a double rod. Mount high and wide to make windows feel larger. Choose washable fabrics.
Choose rental-proof, washable textiles
Why it works: Durability saves money and time between turnovers.
How to do it:
Removable, machine-washable cushion covers.
Mattress and pillow protectors (zippered).
Darker bath mats; white towels for an “hotel” feel (easier to bleach).
Keep one full spare set per bed/bath on site.
